Welcome to Guava Farm

Story and picture by SENIORL ANZU of NARI

Ngalonzua Farm at Munum outside Lae is Papua New Guinea’s largest guava farm with over 4, 000 trees  grown by woman farmer Edith Babul.
She supplies major supermarkets and schools in Lae with her weekly harvests of Indian guava , some of which are as big as young coconuts.
The beauty is there is no season and the trees bear all-year-round, according to Babul.
Pictured is Edith’s daughter, Davura, checking out some guava fruits before harvesting to meet orders for Lae supermarkets last week.

Plastic wrapping is done to prevent fruit flies from destroying the fruit.
